OGC Releases Videos of GEOSS Interoperability Demo

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has posted videos of demonstrations of Phase 2 of the GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP-2) on the OGC website at http://www.ogcnetwork.net/pub/ogcnetwork/GEOSS/AIP2/index.html.The AIP-2 pilot activity, which began in September 2008, is a project of the GEO (Group on Earth Observations) AR-09-01b Task Team.AIP-2 Engineering Reports will be made available to the GEOSS Best Practice Registry ( http://www.ogcnetwork.net/AIP2ERs ) for use by organizations in and outside of GEOSS .GCI is built upon GEOSS Interoperability Arrangements, including several OGC standards.Ivan Deloatch, USGS and co-chair of the GEO Architecture and Data Committee, commented that The GEOSS process depends upon contributions from many organizations to build the system of systems.

Call for Sponsors: Climate Challenge Integration Plugfest at FOSS4G

The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC®), the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) are conducting a Climate Challenge Integration Plugfest (CCIP) to be launched at the FOSS4G (Free, Open Source Software for Geomatics) Conference in Sydney, Australia, 20-23 October, 2009 (http://2009.foss4g.org).The OGC is seeking CCIP sponsors.Participation is open to all software vendors, programmers and system integrators regardless of whether their software is open source or proprietary. The climate change community has much to gain from using the GEOSS architecture (http://www.earthobservations.org) and implementation plans for the Global Observing System for Climate (http://www.gosic.org/ios/GCOS-main-page.htm), which employ OGC standards. The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) (http://osgeo.org) has been created to support and build the highest-quality open source geospatial software.

OGC Calls for Sponsors for Major Interoperability Testbed

Wayland, MA, June 1, 2009.The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has issued a call for sponsors of the OGC Web Services, Phase 7 (OWS-7) Testbed. At this meeting potential sponsors will review the OGC standards baseline, discuss OWS-6 results, and document OWS-7 requirements and plans.Alliances with other Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) are a key element of developing OGC specifications for geospatial applications. Therefore, the OGC is also seeking partnerships with other SDOs to develop sponsorship of the OWS-7 Testbed.OGC Standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.
