OGC publishes results from its Testbed-14 Innovation Initiative

They describe prototypes developed by Testbed-14’s participating technology providers, and provide a clear vision on potential new or enhanced OGC standards. As with all Testbeds, the results have now been handed over to the OGC Standards Program for further consideration in development of consensus-based open standards and best practices.Selected Testbed-14 results formed the core content of the Testbed-14 demonstration event (see our coverage of the event on the OGC Blog) held in January at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, Italy. These, and all Testbed-14 results, are documented in the newly published Engineering Reports.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.

OGC invites developers to the OGC API Hackathon

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested developers to the OGC API Hackathon, held in London on June 20 & 21, 2019.The template will be based on the work completed to date on the OGC API – features specification (formerly referred to as WFS3).The Hackathon will focus on implementing and testing draft API specifications for geospatial information on the web.For more information on the Hackathon, including venue information, registration requirements, and expected skill sets, visit the OGC API Hackathon event page on OGC’s website, or register on Eventbrite.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC Invites you to Participate in its combined Disasters Resilience 2019 & GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to solicit proposals and participate in the combined OGC Disaster Resilience Pilot (DRP-2019) & GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP-10) Initiative. The work from the study will soon be published as the OGC Development of Disaster Spatial Data Infrastructures for Disaster Resilience report. The goal of GEOSS is to increase understanding of Earth processes and enhance prediction of the behavior of Earth’s natural systems. The GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP) develops and deploys new process and infrastructure components for the broader GEOSS architecture or community. The OGC Disaster Resilience Pilot (DRP-2019) & GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP-10) Initiative Call For Participation contains more information on the Initiative, including how to participate.

OGC invites you to participate in its SCIRA Smart Cities Public Safety Interoperability Pilot

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to submit a proposal to participate in the SCIRA Public Safety Interoperability Pilot and receive funding for implementation of Pilot components. The Smart City Interoperability Reference Architecture (SCIRA) is a project of OGC’s Innovation Program sponsored by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology (S&T).The SCIRA Public Safety Interoperability Pilot is intended to prototype advances in public safety and risk reduction through the interoperable sharing of city data and the flexible deployment of inexpensive Web-connected sensors. The Call For Participation is available to download from the SCIRA Public Safety Interoperability Pilot webpage as either HTML or PDF versions. To learn more about this Initiative, please visit the SCIRA Public Safety Interoperability Pilot webpage or contact techdesk [at] opengeospatial.org.

OGC invites you to a rail-themed Integrated Digital Built Environment (IDBE) Workshop

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and buildingSMART International (bSI) invite you to the next IDBE workshop on Monday, 1st April, 2019 in Heerbrugg, Switzerland.IDBE (Integrated Digital Built Environment) is a collaboration between OGC and bSI and aims to increase interoperability between the geospatial and built environment domains. For more information, including registration, visit the IDBE Workshop Event page on OGC’s website.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC invites you to participate in its Open Routing API Pilot 2019

The goal of the Open Routing API Pilot 2019 is to develop an API that allows requesting routes from different providers in a coherent, standardized way via Web protocols. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to participate in the OGC Open Routing API Pilot 2019.Further, the routing services themselves offer non-standard interfaces with varying query models and parameter options. This pilot addresses these interoperability issues and expands the ability of routing services to incorporate diverse data, routing algorithms, and planning parameters in a standardized way.To learn more about this Pilot, including how to join, please visit the Open Routing Pilot API 2019 webpage or contact techdesk [at] opengeospatial.org.

OGC invites you to its ‘Mixed Reality to the Edge’ Workshop this April in Tampa, FL

Visionary experts from Defense, Utilities, First Responders, and more will lead panels concerning the automation of workflows that bring 3D/4D geospatial content to users at ‘the edge’The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites you to its ‘Mixed Reality to the Edge’ Workshop at SOFWERX in Tampa, FL, on April 30, 2019.The OGC Website has further information on the Mixed Reality to the Edge Concept Development Study. For the latest information on the workshop, visit the Mixed Reality To The Edge Workshop event page.Registration for the workshop is free but mandatory, as places are limited, so register for the Mixed Reality To The Edge Workshop today.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC invites you to participate in its Maritime Limits and Boundaries Pilot

Pilot will advance an implementation model, architecture, and prototypes for sharing Maritime Limits and Boundaries information. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to participate in OGC’s Maritime Limits and Boundaries Pilot.States that adhere to UNCLOS are required to communicate officially the representation of their maritime limits and boundaries. To support the dissemination of this information, the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) developed the S-121 Maritime Limits and Boundaries standard. To access The Maritime Limits and Boundaries Pilot Call For Participation or learn more about this Initiative, please visit the the Maritime Limits and Boundaries Pilot Initiative webpage or contact techdesk [at] opengeospatial.org.

OGC requests public comment on draft charter for new Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (BDLT) Domain Working Group

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) seeks public comment on the draft Charter for a proposed Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (BDLT) Domain Working Group (DWG).The technologies used to implement such ledgers (Distributed Ledger Technologies aka DLT) include the Blockchain, which is a digital ledger of records arranged into linked and cryptologically-validated chunks of data called blocks. In October 2018, OGC published the Discussion Paper Geospatial Standardization of Distributed Ledger Technologies with the purpose of improving the understanding of Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. The Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies Domain Working Group draft charter is available for review and comment on the OGC Portal.Comments are due by 15th March 2019 and should be submitted via the method outlined on the Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Domain Working Group draft charter request page.
