OGC Seeks Public Comment on GroundwaterML v2.3 Candidate Standard

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) seeks public comment on an updated version of the ‘OGC WaterML 2: Part 4 – GroundWaterML 2 (GWML2)’ candidate standard.The GroundWaterML2 standard (GWML2) describes a conceptual and logical schema for the exchange of groundwater data, as well as a GML/XML encoding.The candidate ‘WaterML 2: Part 4 – GroundWaterML 2 (GWML2)’ standard is available for review and comment on the OGC Portal.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful within any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC Calls for Participation in Major Innovation Testbed (Testbed-15)

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested organizations to respond to the Call for Participation (CFP) for OGC’s Testbed-15 Innovation Initiative.Participants’ prototype solutions will implement existing OGC standards as well as new prototype interface and encoding specifications introduced or developed in Testbed-15.Prototype specifications may ultimately become official, member approved OGC standards, revisions to existing OGC standards, or best practices for using OGC standards.Previous OGC Innovation Initiatives have helped transformed how we share and use geospatial information, from advancing the sharing of digital maps over the web (e.g.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.

OGC Announces its 110th Technical and Planning Committee Meeting, to be held in Singapore

OGC invites you to its CDB Vector Data in GeoPackage Interoperability Experiment

Participants in this IE will have the opportunity to explore one or more design alternatives using Geopackage to encode vector data in their own CDB implementationsThe Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) invites interested members & non-members to participate in the CDB Vector Data in GeoPackage Interoperability Experiment.The currently approved OGC CDB 1.1 Standard , as well as previous versions, have only described the use of Shapefiles to encode vector data.The objectives of this Interoperability Experiment are to:Evaluate options for encoding vector data in OGC CDB 1.1 using OGC GeoPackage.This IE will test encoding of vector data via GeoPackage in the OGC CDB 1.1, following some of the approaches highlighted in the aforementioned CDB Leveraging GeoPackage white paper.To learn more about this IE, including how to join, please visit the CDB Vector Data in GeoPackage Interoperability Experiment webpage .

OGC and World Geospatial Industry Council sign Memorandum of Understanding to Promote the Power of Location-Based Technologies

Mark Reichardt Receives Special Edition of OGC Gardels Award

Congratulations to outgoing President & CEO, Mark Reichardt, awarded a special edition of the Gardel’s Award in recognition of his years of commitment to, leadership of, and passion for OGC.Mark Reichardt (left) receives a special edition of the OGC Gardels Award from OGC Board Member Dr. Chris Tucker.Last night at the December meeting of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Technical Committee in Charlotte, North Carolina, OGC’s outgoing President & CEO, Mark Reichardt, was awarded a special edition of OGC’s prestigious Kenneth D. Gardels Award.This special edition of the award, the second Gardel’s Award to be awarded in 2018, was awarded to Mark by the OGC Board of Directors in recognition of his years of leadership, commitment, passion, and dedication to the advancement of interoperability and open OGC Standards.Award nominations are made by members – the prior Gardels Award winners – and approved by the Board of Directors.

OGC seeks public comment on PipelineML candidate standard, to support the interchange of data pertaining to oil and gas pipeline systems

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is seeking public comment on the candidate PipelineML Conceptual and Encoding Model Standard (PipelineML).The standard is a deliverable of the OGC PipelineML Standards Working Group (SWG).The candidate PipelineML standard is available for review and comment on the OGC Portal.Comments are due by 7th January 2019 and should be submitted via the method outlined on the PipelineML Standard’s request page.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that ‘geo-enable’ the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.
