OGC requests participation in its Citizen Science DWG

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is calling for public participation in its newly-established Citizen Science Domain Working Group (Citizen Science DWG).As many citizen science projects are grassroots initiatives formed in response to local concerns, some duplication of the collected data is inevitable. The OGC Citizen Science DWG is motivated to support citizen science by providing a forum for demonstrating, and increasing the understanding of, the benefits brought by the use of open standards and best practices. The Citizen Science DWG will support the development of improved interoperability arrangements for the citizen science community. The OGC is looking for interested parties to assist the Citizen Science DWG in achieving its goals.

OGC requests participation in its Marine DWG

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is calling for public participation in its newly-established Marine Domain Working Group (Marine DWG).The Marine DWG was established to address applicability of the OGC standards baseline with regards to marine geospatial data, and to ensure knowledge is exchanged effectively between the relevant standards organizations, the OGC membership, and the broader geospatial community.Geospatial data in the marine domain has been successfully standardized for navigational purposes by hydrographic agencies for many years.Details on the Marine Domain Working Group can be found at: www.opengeospatial.org/projects/groups/marinedwg, with the charter available at: https://portal.ogc.org/files/68817.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.

OGC announces v3.0 of its Catalogue Services (CAT) Standard

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) announces the release of version 3.0 of the OGC Catalogue Services standard.Catalogue services support the ability to publish and search geospatial data and services. The query capabilities of the OGC General Catalogue Model provide a minimum set of data types and query operations that can be assumed of OGC Compliant Catalogue implementations.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC and SIBA sign Memorandum of Understanding

Further, SIBA will assist with local promotion and education regarding OGC standards in the Asia Pacific region, including advocating the use of OGC standards by the Australian and New Zealand governments. The collaboration will build upon the significant and successful relationship seen in the mid 2000s between OGC and SIBA’s previous incarnation, ASIBA.SIBA is a not-for-profit organization and seeks to inform, assist, and grow private enterprise within the spatial industry.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC® invites Proposals for an Arctic Spatial Data Pilot project

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and sponsors, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), in collaboration with the Arctic Spatial Data Infrastructure Participants, announce a Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Call for Participation (CFP) in the OGC Interoperability Program’s Arctic Spatial Data Pilot Phase-2 (Arctic SDP) initiative. The purpose of this Request for Quotation and Call for Participation is to solicit proposals in response to a set of requirements for the OGC Arctic Spatial Data Pilot Interoperability Program (IP) initiative. The goal of the OGC Arctic Spatial Data Pilot is to demonstrate the power and efficiency of distributed online environments for the exchange of geospatial Arctic data.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC requests comment on revision of its GWML2 specification

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) is requesting comments on the WaterML 2: Part 4 – GroundWaterML 2 (GWML2) candidate standard. The GWML2 standard is motivated by 5 usage scenarios that focus on commercial uses (drilling water wells), policy uses (managing aquifers), environmental uses (protecting ecosystems), scientific uses (groundwater modeling), and technical uses (data interoperability). Two OGC Interoperability Experiments were performed to test and enhance GroundWaterML capabilities, which resulted in the first version of GWML2.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.OGC standards empower technology developers to make geospatial information and services accessible and useful with any application that needs to be geospatially enabled.

OGC adopts WaterML2.0 Part 2 – Ratings, Gaugings and Sections Standard

The membership of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) has approved the WaterML2.0 Part 2 – Ratings, Gaugings and Sections Standard as an official OGC standard. The first part of WaterML2.0 focused on a standard information model, and an XML encoding derived from that model, for time series of hydrological observations. The WaterML2.0 Part 2 – Ratings, Gaugings and Sections Standard describes an information model for exchanging rating tables, gauging observations, and river sections. The WaterML2.0 Part 2 – Ratings, Gaugings and Sections Standard can be viewed by following the link under the Documents and Downloads section on the following page: www.opengeospatial.org/standards/waterml.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location based services, and mainstream IT.
