The OGC seeks comments on charter for PipelineML Working Group

16 May 2014 – The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) seeks comments on the charter for a new OGC PipelineML Standards Working Group (DWG).The initiators encourage comments on the charter and invite participation in the OGC PipelineML Standards Working Group.The PipelineML SWG is a result of this cooperation.The OGC® is an international consortium of more than 475 companies, government agencies, research organizations, and universities participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available geospatial standards.OGC standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.

The OGC adopts I15 standard providing ebRIM extension to OGC Catalog Services Interface Standard

12 May 2014 – The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) membership as adopted the OGC standard, OGC I15 (ISO19115 Metadata) Extension Package of CS-W ebRIM Profile 1.0.The OGC Catalogue Services Standard establishes a general framework for implementing catalogue services used for publishing and discovering geospatial data and geoprocessing services.The developers of the I15 standard anticipate that this standard will be useful to stakeholders in a wide variety of domains whose spatial metadata conform to the ISO19115 Metadata standard.The I15 standard provides an extension package aligned with the ebRIM application profile of CS-W for the cataloguing of data and services whose metadata implements ISO geospatial metadata standards.Download the OGC I15 (ISO19115 Metadata) Extension Package of CS-W ebRIM Profile 1.0 at http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/cat.

The OGC seeks comments on charter for Big Data Domain Working Group

24 April 2014 – The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC®) seeks comments on the charter for a new OGC Big Data Domain Working Group (DWG).The widespread need to perform rapid, flexible analytics on Big Data has become a major driver in the Information and Communications Technology industry.Members of the proposed Big Data DWG believe that the OGC needs to make statements and provide guidance on the use of OGC standards in managing Big Data.The OGC Big Data DWG initiators aim to provide an open forum for work on Big Data management, analytics and interoperability.The group will consolidate findings on an OGC Big Data DWG public wiki to inform OGC members and the public and allow for feedback during and after document editing.

OGC calls for participation in USGS Interoperability Assessment Virtual Exercise

USGS data services get over 1 million hits per day.As part of the USGS Interoperability Assessment Initiative, the OGC and its members are evaluating the different USGS data services with the goal of assessing whether OGC standards as implemented in USGS servers are meeting users requirements.To achieve this goal, the OGC is issuing a Call for Participation (CFP) for the USGS Interoperability Assessment Virtual Exercise Responses to this call for participation are due by 31 May 2014.The overall goal of the initiative is to improve the user’s experience with USGS data services.OGC Standards support interoperable solutions that geo-enable the Web, wireless and location-based services, and mainstream IT.

The OGC® adopts OGC Geo and Time Extensions Standard for OpenSearch

OGC Requests Host for Compliance Tools Infrastructure
